Club Members’ Boats
Club members design, build, and sail radio controlled boats of all types and sizes. Here are some examples.
Building versus buying
Many members build their own boats. These range from kits to scratch-built models. Some have radio control to allow sailing or motoring around a lake. Some of these boats are used for racing. In comparison, others are purely static display models with fine detail. The pictures below show some of the models that members (and some non-members) have built. The trend is to buy boats for instant success. As a result, this is a good way to get started. In contrast, our model-maker members can give advice to others who fancy the art of model-making their own boats.

What boats do we sail?
There is a core group of RC sailboat sailors who complete amongst themselves. The current fleet comprises the ‘Weedless 1 meter‘ class as well as a growing fleet of DF65s. These smaller model boats can be bought fully equipped, which is an excellent way to get started as a result. For more information, visit our locations page and Events Schedule.
